Day 1 Roundup: 20 Goals Thriller Heralds Lagos FA Pre-Season Tourney

The 2023 Lagos State Football Association Pre-season Tournament kicked off on Monday with a rain of goals as a total of 20 goals were recorded in six of the eight matches played.

It was a thrilling first round of matches for the teams which played their fixtures on Day One of the tournament at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, popularly known as Onikan Stadium on Lagos Island.

Big winners in today’s fixtures were the First Bank Football Club who were awarded full three points without kicking a ball as they walked over Real Sapphire for failing to show up for the opening match early on Monday.

The highest scoreline in a match was five goals scored during the game between Tradesafe and AS Racine which AS Racine won 2-3, while no goal was scored when Emmydinho and BYT played a goalless draw.

Chairman of the Media Committee of the Lagos FA, Mr Damilare Orimoloye commended the display of professionalism by the team who played their matches on the first day of the competition.

Orimoloye called on Lagos football fans to come out en-masse to watch good football at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as the tournament continues on Tuesday with another round of exciting matches.
