We have a good idea who the Houston Cougars are this season.
That may sound like an obvious statement this deep into March, but there are always teams trending in different directions down the stretch.
Houston has been one of the best teams in the country all season, and has continued its ascendancy as we hurl towards the Big Dance.
The Cougars have won 12 consecutive games and haven’t closed as an underdog since Jan. 25 when they were a one-point pooch on the road against Kansas. That was the only time Houston was getting points this entire season.
Arizona is a trickier team to pin down than Houston. The Wildcats were trading wins and losses down the stretch, but their statistical profile sparkles and they’ve righted the ship in the Big 12 Tournament.
