Schumer’s lack of support for Israel: Letters

The Issue: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s lack of support for Israel as a Jewish politician.

It’s about time someone in authority made note of politicians like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s lousy stance on the Palestinian-Israeli standoff (“Chuck ‘a Palestinian, not a Jew’: Don,” March. 13).

As a supposed Jew, or someone who plays a Jew in Congress, Schumer shows no fire for Israel, something President Trump, a Christian, spoke of; he called Schumer out as a Palestinian and no longer a Jew.

But Schumer wants the ignorant, reflexive Democrats of New York to continue to support him, so he plays the role. Plus, he’s made millions off this scam and won’t give it up. Schumer is smart — but Trump is smarter.

What is wrong with Jewish elected Democrats?

Colleges are being overrun by pro-Hamas protesters, Jewish students are being harassed and there is not a peep of support coming from politicians like Schumer. Are these Dems so sure of the Jewish vote?

One can only hope all the Jews will say: Enough is enough.

Trump said that Schumer is no longer Jewish because of his criticisms of the Israeli government. I don’t know if Trump is wrong.

Schumer has not been outspoken in his defense of Jewish students because he did not want to offend his Democratic allies or face a primary challenge from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

He is a man of no moral courage who has lost the respect of the Jewish community. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the elected leader of a foreign government and Schumer had no right to interfere with that by calling for Israelis to replace him.

Schumer has gone from a moderate, sensible Democrat to a left-wing progressive who supports his antisemitic colleagues and doesn’t stand up for Jewish students and Jews in this country. Shame on him.

Senate Democrats are backing Mahmoud Khalil, with the Squad members spouting their free-speech garbage, as they back verbal terrorists threatening American streets and campuses.

And there’s not a peep of Jewish support from the Democrats, like Schumer and others.

Their leaderless, no-ideas, no-common sense, no-solutions party hasn’t learned a thing.

The Issue: The Department of Education warning schools of fund cuts due to mishandling antisemitism.

Enough warnings — pull the plug (“Funding warn for 60 schools,” March 11).

Colleges and universities have knowingly been violating federal laws, rules and regulations with antisemitic discrimination and harassment and unfair acceptance policies for some time. It is time to turn off the spigot and stop wasting taxpayer dollars.

Cut these institutions off entirely for two years, then they can reapply under a four-year probationary program.

The effort to combat antisemitism isn’t served by denying funds to those at Columbia and other colleges, who are conducting clinical medical trials and research or any legitimate academic pursuits.

Any grants or contracts paying professors who tolerate, inculcate or even celebrate antisemitism are the ones that should be ended.

The Post and other media outlets need to itemize what constitutes the current and future canceled funds to make sense of the Trump administration’s actions in battling the antisemitic scourge rampaging on university campuses.
