The White House has shared images of President Donald Trump watching on a computer the deadly strike against Houthi rebels in Yemen, as the administration revealed it informed Russia about the attacks in an effort to bolster diplomatic communications, according to a report.
Photos of President Trump watching “hell” unleashed on Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen were circulated by the White House on X, on Saturday.
Trump was dressed in golfing attire, wore a large black headset and donned a red MAGA hat that appeared emblazoned with his own autograph on its brim in the first shared photo.
“President Trump is taking action against the Houthis to defend US shipping assets and deter terrorist threats,” the caption on the post read.
“For too long American economic and national threats have been under assault by the Houthis. Not under this presidency,” the statement concluded.
In another pic, Trump is shown from the back, staring at a television that shows the bombings in the Middle East playing out in realtime.
Also pictured in the X post were National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The State Department revealed that earlier Saturday, Rubio called Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov to inform him of the US on Yemeni targets, according to a release.
The release issued by the State Department said Rubio’s outreach was in furtherance of a previous agreement “to continue working towards restoring communication between the United States and Russia.”
On Saturday afternoon, President Trump ordered the bombing of dozens of Houthi targets in Yemen in response to the Iran-backed terror groups attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
“They have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that announced the strikes to the world.
“YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY,” Trump warned the group in the post, adding the United States will use “overwhelming force” in pursuit of its peaceful objectives.
The Commander in Chief also warned Iran to end its support for the proxy terrorist group.
