The Netflix series, which premiered in February 2021, follows the complex (and ever-changing) relationship between teen Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and her free-spirited mother Georgia (Brianne Howey). The third chapter of the series hit Netflix on June 5, picking up after the season 2 bombshell-filled finale, in which Georgia was arrested for murder during her wedding to Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter).

After 10 dramatic episodes that followed Georgia’s trial, season 3 ended with a shocking twist as her son Austin (Diesel La Torraca) framed his father Gil (Aaron Ashmore) for the murder that his mother committed. While Georgia was ultimately set free, her relationship with her children post-trial is left complicated, leaving fans wondering about the characters’ futures — and whether or not there is more to come.

During a January 2023 conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Debra J. Fisher shared that she and creator Sarah Lampert pitched four seasons when they first brought the idea of the series to Netflix.

“We know what we want the end game to be,” she said. “We know what we want the last episode to be.”

Good news, Ginny & Georgia fans! There’s more to come soon, as Netflix announced in May 2023 that both seasons 3 and 4 had received the green light.

What will season 4 of Ginny & Georgia be about?

While no official plot lines for season 4 have been revealed yet, Howey teased some of what can be expected during a June 5 conversation with StyleCaster, after being asked if the audience should be “bracing for more heartbreak, redemption, or chaos in the next season.”

“If you’ve watched these three seasons, you know all three of those things are coming,” she said. “It’s always like Ginny and Georgia are all contrast, and that’s what they’re so amazing at writing. So yes, it’s gonna be all three from my experience on the show.”

Howey continued, “The stakes just keep getting higher and higher with each season. So I am positive that for Season 4, the stakes will be higher than ever.”

In the season 3 finale, not only did Ginny’s dad Zion (Nathan Mitchell) file for custody, but in the final moments, the teen also realized her mom might be pregnant after she sees her chug a bottle of milk from the fridge, a sign that she is expecting.

But, after sleeping with both Paul and Blue Farm Café owner Joe (Raymond Ablack) during the season, there was a lingering mystery about who the baby’s father might be, meaning there are many dynamics to be explored and questions to be answered when the show returns.

Which cast members are returning for Ginny & Georgia season 4?

No official cast announcements have been made yet, but based on Howey’s conversation with StyleCaster, she’s likely to be reprising her role as Georgia.

It wouldn’t be Ginny & Georgia without the leads themselves, but fans will just have to stay tuned for more confirmation.

In addition to Gentry, Howey, Porter, La Torraca, Ashmore and Mitchell, the first three seasons also starred Sara Waisglass as Maxine, Chelsea Clark as Norah, Katie Douglas as Abby, Felix Mallard as Marcus and Jennifer Robertson as Ellen.

When is Ginny & Georgia season 4 coming out?

Sorry, Peaches. The release date for season 4 of Ginny & Georgia has yet to be released. However, the behind-the-scenes crew is already hard at work!

In February 2025, months before season 3 was released, the official Ginny & Georgia Instagram account shared a photo of the writers getting back to work on a group Zoom call.

“First day of the season 4 writer’s room!!!” the photo was captioned. “Based on today alone season 4 is going to be a RIDE.”

In the past, each season has had about a two-year gap between releases, meaning it’s possible fans will have to wait until 2027.
