Mary-Louise Parker Makes Rare Appearance with Daughter Ash at Premiere

Mary-Louise Parker and her daughter enjoyed a special mother-daughter outing.

On Thursday, June 5, the Weeds actress, 60, and her daughter, Caroline “Ash” Aberash, 18, whom she welcomed via adoption in 2007, enjoyed an evening out at the London premiere for Parker’s new thriller series The Institute. The show is based on the 2019 Stephen King novel with the same name.

Parker dazzled in a baby blue suit, while her daughter opted for an all black three-piece set with rhinestone embellishments on the top.

In addition to being a mom to Ash, Parker shares her son William Atticus, 21, with ex Billy Crudup. The Angels in America actress told PEOPLE in 2009 that motherhood was the “best thing” that’s ever happened to her.

“I’ll be the first to admit that it can be very hard to raise two kids, but I absolutely love it,” she said. “I can’t imagine what my life would be without my children.”

Motherhood has made the award-winning actress more patient. “They really put you in touch on how little you know and how little you are capable of and much you are capable of,” she explained. “They are very humbling, children. I am more patient now. I’ve become much more patient.”

Although “it’s hard raising two kids as a single person,” she has said that sometimes she looks at her children and thinks, “You are the two coolest people I have ever met.”

The actress, who was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Li’l Bit in the revival of the Paula Vogel play How I Learned to Drive, opened up about the Broadway shutdown and how she coped amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m deliriously happy. Just to walk through the stage door at night, I feel like I know where I’m going and I understand my life,” Parker told PEOPLE, adding that her children played a major role in keeping her optimistic as the theater world awaited its grand reopening.

“Sometimes it’s performative for your kids, you have to be a little bit hopeful and try to be creative,” she said of staying positive during the shutdown. “We put on plays, my kids and I, and we did [it] with their friends in other places and tried to write things and just connect in whatever way.”
