Alex Cooper has built a million-dollar media empire since introducing the world to Call Her Daddy.
Cooper launched the podcast in 2018 with her then-roommate Sofia Franklyn as part of Barstool Sports, before going solo in 2021 after landing a $60 million deal with Spotify. Since then, she has interviewed some of the biggest celebrities and public figures, including Miley Cyrus, Hailey Bieber and Kamala Harris.
In 2023, Cooper and her now-husband Matt Kaplan launched The Unwell Network, which is home to Madeline Argy‘s Pretty Lonesome and Harry Jowsey‘s Boyfriend Material. From the early days of Call Her Daddy to the success of The Unwell Network, Cooper rose to become one of the industry’s wealthiest influencers, landing her a spot on Forbes’ Top Creators list in 2024.
During a December 2024 conversation with PEOPLE, the podcaster-turned-media-mogul shared some advice for those looking to make it as an entrepreneur, saying not to get “sidetracked.”
“Don’t try to do a million things at once,” she said. “If you focus on the one thing that you are educated on, and you are essentially a savant in, then just focus on that and trust your gut because trying to appease everyone is not going to get you anywhere.”
The Boston University alum added, “I think sticking to one idea and making it the main thing is how I’ve succeeded with Call Her Daddy. For almost five years, I did nothing but Call Her Daddy, and I just grinded. I didn’t take brand deals, I didn’t put my face next to other products — I just focused on the main thing.”
Now, her rise to fame and fortune is being told in a two-part docuseries, titled Call Her Alex, which premiered at Tribeca Festival on June 8 and hit Hulu on June 10.

In 2021, Cooper left Barstool Sports and signed a $60 million three-year contract with Spotify, bringing Call Her Daddy to the network. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the agreement was the second-biggest podcast deal ever struck at the time.
In June 2022, the Los Angeles Times reported that her annual salary was $20 million, making her the highest-paid female podcaster on Spotify.
Three years later, Cooper signed a $125 million three-year deal with SiriusXM in August 2024, bringing Call Her Daddy and The Unwell Network to the radio giant.
“The brand had only grown since being at Spotify,” Cooper told Forbes of the new deal. “I knew the money would be there. The deal was more about what other things people can give Call Her Daddy and Unwell that will help us grow.”
The podcast has also become somewhat of a community, where the fanbase dubbed the “Daddy Gang” can buy her branded clothing, contributing to further profits associated with the podcast. According to Forbes, Cooper sold $800,000 worth of merchandise within three days of its release in November 2020.

As one of the biggest creators and influencers in the industry, Cooper has had significant brand deals and partnerships over the years.
According to Forbes, she notably signed brand partnerships with Kim Kardashian‘s shapewear and clothing brand Skims and luxury shoe brand Jimmy Choo.
In 2024, the podcaster partnered with Peacock to serve as an NBC host at the Paris Olympic Games with a series known as Watch with Alex Cooper.
Her media company, The Unwell Network, has also landed major brand partnerships. In March 2025, Cooper posted on Instagram that Drink Unwell (The Unwell Network’s beverage line) was the official hydration partner of the National Women’s Soccer League.
Although she has had several brand deals throughout her career, Cooper has spoken about having intention behind who she partners with. During an April 2025 appearance on Jowsey’s Boyfriend Material, Cooper revealed that she once turned down $8 million for a brand deal because she didn’t “stand by it.”
“I just like didn’t believe in putting my face next to it,” she said. “I think it’s important to say no to s—, because then you just lose your f—— credibility.”
What has Alex Cooper said about her wealth?

Cooper has been open about her success, but told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024 that she didn’t get started with the podcast for the money.
“Don’t get me wrong, it is life-changing. You want to make money off the product that you’re spending so much time on,” she said of her SiriusXM deal. “But I started making content when I was 5 years old. I wasn’t hoping for a paycheck. I just wanted my friends to feel something from the videos I was showing them.”
As for how she spends her paychecks, Cooper bought her parents a house in December 2024 after signing the $125 million deal with SiriusXM. During a Call Her Daddy episode that month, the podcaster said it “meant so much” to be able to give back to her parents.
“I literally wouldn’t be here without them,” she said. “Buying them a house is like the least I could f—— do, because they sacrificed financially, emotionally. They sacrificed with my other siblings in moments for me. So it feels really, really, really f—— insane and incredible that I get to do this.”
She opened up further to The Hollywood Reporter about her spending habits, saying, “My money goes back into my company and is being saved and invested.”
“My friends make fun of me because of how reserved I am with money,” Cooper continued. “I like to be spontaneously generous with money, but smart with it.”
But, as the podcaster revealed to Entertainment Tonight in February 2025, she does buy herself “a lot of UGGS and sweatpants.”
