Hozier Postpones Two Concerts After Struggling Through ‘Virus’ at Gov Ball

Hozier is putting his health first amid a string of performances.
The “Too Sweet” crooner announced on Monday, June 9, that he would be postponing two shows after struggling through a virus while headlining Gov Ball in New York the day prior.
“Thank you to @GovBallNYC for having me last night and to the crowd in NYC for being so kind while I struggled through this virus,” Hozier, 35, posted on X. “You gave me such a lift, so much love 🖤”
“Due to illness my upcoming performances originally scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, NJ and Thursday, June 12 at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, MO are being rescheduled,” Hozier continued.
“The Camden show will now take place on July 15, and the Ridgedale show will take place on July 22.”
The Irish rocker told the crowd at Gov Ball that he and members of his band were dealing with an illness, per Billboard.

In his note on X, he noted that all tickets previously bought for the original show dates would be honored for the new shows. “I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” he continued.
Despite the setback, Hozier is planning to return to the stage within a week. “My performance at Bonnaroo on June 15 will proceed as planned. Much love 🤍”
During Hozier’s performance at Gov Ball, the singer, whose full name is Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, joked about the quality of his voice, quipping he’d been “stricken by the specter of puberty.”
“For anybody who has never seen me before, I promise I sound at least 5% better on average,” he told the crowd in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
“I am haunted — I am stricken — by the specter of puberty one more time,” he joked, according to Billboard.

Up next for Hozier are shows supporting his Unreal Unearth album throughout the United States and Canada this June and July. He will travel to Europe in August for several concerts before coming back to North America for a string of shows.
