New York City Police are searching for a two-year-old Bronx boy who last seen in early May.

Police suspect that Montrell Williams may have been thrown into the Bronx River by his 20-year-old father, ABC7, Fox 5, and NBC4 reported, citing law enforcement sources.

Police divers have been searching the Bronx River under the Bruckner Expressway, ABC7 reported.

The boy vanished on May 10 around 10 p.m., police said.

Montrell Williams has been missing since May 10.

Montrell, who was wearing a white T-shirt and diaper, was last seen with his father leaving a family celebration, according to sources, per NBC 4. That same night, the boy’s mother allegedly contacted police, per the sources, NBC reported.

A source told Fox 5 that Montrell’s mother filed a custodial interference report on May 30. The parents have split custody, FOX5 reported.

Sources told NBC 4 and the New York Daily News that Montrell’s father pulled out a knife when the boy’s mother asked about her son’s whereabouts on Saturday, June 7.

The mother then contacted police, NBC4 reported.

A law enforcement source told PEOPLE that the boy’s father appeared in Bronx Family Court on Monday, June 9. Per the source, the father declined to tell authorities what happened to the boy and was then remanded to custody.
